I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.10. However, I get the following error:

(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

I get this every time I try to install it on an old dual core PC. I'm booting from a USB but don't have any other usb ports in use. Is there something in particular that I'm doing wrong or should I try installing using a CD?

How did you create the live USB? Does it work on other computers? –  To Do Jan 8 '13 at 17:15

I used the UUI that Ubuntu suggested and I've not had chance to use it on another computer. Thanks for any help Ps, thanks Aditya for editing –  James Jan 8 '13 at 19:48

I know that using UUID's is the recommended reference method in Fstab but unless you change the partition table or add physical drives using /dev/xxxx should be fine. Furthermore it did remove the useless duplicate entry in Nautilus. –  To Do Jan 8 '13 at 22:39
