Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Considering that the mobile area is quite litigated because of patents, how is Canonical preparing to deal with that when introducing Ubuntu for phones? Notice that Google didn't give it much importance at first and it and its partners have had lots of issues with them.

Google is now catching up by purchasing patent portfolios to have some defence or fire back, but price for thinking on this later rather than sooner is high. I don't want this to happen to Ubuntu phone nor Canonical or its partners.

Impossible to answer by us users of Ubuntu. You need to ask Canonical directly if you consider it an issue. But the reason for a close vote to me: "You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems that you face. Chatty, open-ended questions diminish the usefulness of our site and push other questions off the front page." – Rinzwind Jan 7 at 16:48
This question can be answered by the community too. We just don't know what Canonical does, but I don't know if there is a difference between Android, Ios and Ubuntu-phone. I know that Apple kinda sells their os, google releases it, but who is the big guy behind ubuntu, ubuntu doesn't sell a thing, so what are they gonna sue? – Dr_Bunsen Jan 7 at 16:58
Who would they sue: manufacturers of the phones. Perhaps developers and user would not be in high risk of being sued, but harm to manufacturers would hurt them too and put in danger the entire Ubuntu phone ecosystem. – Paulo Jan 7 at 17:02

Folks, this is not a constructive question. Email canonical about the topic if you are really concerned about this. – jrg Jan 7 at 17:03
