Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm new to Ubuntu. I'm using ubuntu 12.04.Intel(R) GMA 3100.

When I boot it, it shows:

Your system is running in low graphics mode.

Your screen, graphics card and input settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself.

When I entered into the terminal, it shows that several packages need to get updated and checks for the battery state. Then I have to keep on waiting for hours altogether.

I also tried:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop,

But that didn't help me either.
