Before I upgraded from 12.04 - my NVidia GeForce 8400 card worked beautifully with decent hi res graphics on my LCD TV. When I upgraded, I lost all hi-res outputs, and cannot access NVidia controls to change resolution. When I try all the suggestions I have found online, nothing works. The NVidia GUI runs, but states I need to restart the X server. I have found stuff online to indicate how, but this has no effect.

In addition, when I upgraded to 12.04 from 11.10 I lost my TV cards -which had been working. I am at a loss as to how to get my resolution and TV cards back. It is beginning to look like either trying a different version of Linux, or reverting back to MS (which I would hate doing).

Any clues or help would be gratefully appreciated.
