In Lubuntu there was a menu item for checking your software drivers (with some appropriate name) from memory I think it was in settings but it could have been in system or somewhere like that, I am not sure -either way, it was somewhere easy to find.

I have been looking for something similar in Xubuntu as I am running a trajectory file on a molecular dynamics visualization tool and getting block graphics where it should be nice and smooth. Other than that I have noticed no issues with the graphics but I have not really tried to do anything all that demanding with them so it may not mean much to say that

My computer is an intel ivybridge 4 core i5 with HD graphics and I believe a worthy driver for that is xorg's VAAPI driver for Intel G45 & HD Graphics family so this is what I installed to try to resolve it. .
