Ubuntu is very slow on my machine (Intel Atom). It's slower than Windows, which leads me to believe something is wrong. I tried installing dropbox on it a few days ago and it took about an hour to download and about two hours to install. Once signed in, it took about 5 hours to sync to my file system.

Any help you guys can offer would be great. I know it's very vague question so any suggestions or advice you guys can offer would be great.

The only advice I can offer in case of vague questions is to elaborate. Atoms are not the fastest CPUs, so don't expect speed records broken. – mikewhatever Jan 6 at 8:23

Dropbox might have synced during 5 hours because you have limited upload/download speeds, check in Dropbox-> Preferences -> Bandwidth . However the other issues I'd assume are hardware-related. – Oyibo Jan 6 at 10:43

That looks like an slow internet connection, I have an Intel atom netbook too, and well its not that fast. It might be due your internet connection or your CPU which can't handle Dropbox (Yes, Dropbox is pretty heavy).
