I have the following configuration:

Ubuntu 12.04 32bit
4GB RAM
160 GB HDD

I am facing two issues:

1) I have noticed that when My Internet goes down / disconnected, my PC Fan starts flowing fast. Mostly it happens when there is a heavy process I run like an IDE, Some heavy downloading, more Applications etc. I want to know that what to do to stop doing this ?

2) Another thing I have noticed is that when there is a heavy process running in my system, my DSL network is being disconnected and disappears from the Network Dropdown menu.

My Modem is working fine and connected to the Internet. Now if I again want to connect I need to restart Ubuntu. Any suggestions?
