I previously only had right channel sound from my ALC HD 883 Realtek soundcard running 12.10. I tried most everything from the troubleshooting guides and decided to try installing the proprietary Realtek drivers. I installed them and now only have a dummy output, not actual hardware shows up in the pulse audio mixer.

I also have lost alsamixer even though it is installed I get cannot open mixer: No such file or directory.

Running aplay I get this:

cannot open mixer: No such file or directory

Can I undo what I did in terminal, or is there a way for me to reload the default 12.10 drivers and audio setup? One channel is definitely better than no channels.
