This is my first time using Ubuntu (have used Mac for a long time for software dev, so kinda familiar with Linux...). I must say that I am quite shocked at how difficult this has been, it seems like this is an impossible task. My latest issue (after having so many) is that I can no longer boot my machine.
I have found many similar threads on here, with no answers, or answers that did not help me.
When trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 from an ISO on my disk, I was asked to select a mount point on /dev/sda, and to format it from ntfs to ext4. I was then told I needed to reboot before I could attempt to install there.
After rebooting, I get no boot menu. I have Windows 7 installed on a separate disk. I have windows 7 (#2) installed on a separate partition on the same disk as Ubuntu. And I have the ubuntu installer on the same disk as the 2nd windows 7 (different partition).
I cant boot to any of my operating systems. All i have is a white dash that blinks. Changing boot menu options/priorities does nothing. Im very confused and cant find help on here, but I would love it if someone could restore my faith in Ubuntu.
