I suppose you would need to be approved or something but I am not interested in that side of things at the moment. Just I would like to know the technical aspect of packaging.
It would be great to be able to do with this so people can download things without having to jump through the same hoops as one another over and over. I would find it handy too because I do not always have time to go back and figure out how you did something every time I reinstall my operating system (which is often, I am always breaking things!).
For example, eclipse is quite outdated and I needed the latest version so I put a how-to on my blog site (link is on my profile if you need it). That was ages ago though and I guess nobody has seen the need to update it on the package manager. I made a primitive script to try and fix the touchpad on my netbook too. I would like to adapt g-pointing device settings so they can be easily run from start-up (if nobody has done that yet, that is)
I am not sure what the process is that involved. Is it just a matter of writing a script which puts the right files in the right folders once it is run? If so, can the script be any language or is there a protocol? Are there any examples of such scripts available for browsing so I can have a look and see how it is done? If so, where should I start?
