I've searched the net for an answer, but nothing I find seems to work.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu 12.10. I had Windows 8 running previously, but I figured it was time for a change. I used to switch between operating systems all the time on my old desktop, so I didn't figure it would be an issue.
I booted up the Live CD (tried from both a DVD and a USB; I'm typing this from the Live CD, actually) and each time I got to the part of the Install process where I select a drive, no drive appears. I decided to format my drive (I tried a number of formats: nfts, fat32, ext2,3,4) and still nothing. I then tried splitting the drive and creating a new partition. STILL nothing. For whatever reason even though the rest of the Live CD detects and sees my hard drive, the Installer doesn't.
Interestingly, when I insert a USB the Installer sees the flash drive.
Anyway, is there any way for me to install Ubuntu without using the Installer, or is there a way to fix this error?
