I have decided to make the move from windows to ubuntu, however I'm having problems with my boot up, either really slow or the system hangs at a certain point after I choose which os to boot. I'm dual booting with win 7 at the moment, hopefully to get rid of win 7 :) I have tried 12.10 also, both from usb and alongside windows but also same problem. With 12.04 I notice that the system hangs only when I choose my os when the timer either runs down or I select the os manually, after I reset the pc it loads back up (eventually) and no timer appears...anyway I updated my bios incase, but never resolved it.Basic system specs are: CPU = AMD athlon II X4 630 Motherboard = Biostar TA785GE 128M RAM = DDR2 Dual channel 4GB Graphics = ATI Radeon HD 4200

I tried to attach my bootchart but wasn't allowed as I'm a new user.

Regards

You can paste the bootchart in pastebin.ubuntu.com. – user68186 Jan 4 at 14:37
