I recall that even in old MS windows 2000 there was a great free utility called Taskbar shuffle that can easily order apps on the taskbar, say coding apps and testig on left part of the taskbar , Browser and communication apps in middle and maybe game on the right...

LXDE Lubuntu 11.04 doesn't seem to support this. Googling with Linux sort/ order apps taskbar didn't help much. (I found one post where user wanted grouping of apps in taskbar and that was supported in GNOME... )

I was hoping there will be some utility for this.
DO you know one or some tweak ?

Are you referring to the plugins (seen in this screenshot) or the 'Application launch bar' (figure 10 here)? – Tom Brossman Jan 4 at 10:25
