I have done my reasearch on how to etc, but i find myself stuck in particular situation. I am a novice user of linux. So explaining it as simple as possible would be great.
Ok so here is my sort of problem. I can not for the life of me install the nvidia-current-updates(proprietary) driver. When i do everything is fine until i reboot, in which unity disappears and im stuck at a blank screen. In order to fix my unity problem i have to revert back to the default driver which is the Nouveau driver. I also tried the experimenta;-310 driver but with no avail same issue.
The Nouveau driver works and i get my 1920x1200 screen resolution but i also have a 35 inch lcd hooked up to my graphics card and it sometimes is a little slow on the images when playing a movie on that big screen. I am dual booting win 7 and it has no issues.
If it helps when i first started with Ubuntu a week ago i used wubi to install ubuntu and that time the default driver did not work(screen pixelated etc) and to fix it i just changed to nvidia-current recommended, and everything was fine.
so hopefully you guys can help me because ive truly tried everything. I wanted to run the .run package from the nvidia site that contains my driver however from what i heard it should rarely be tried, im afraid of screwing up the system. So some help would be Awesome!
