How do I reset a lost administrative password?

I am running Ubuntu 12.10 and have removed the password on my account. When I need to Authenticate, the system doesn't accept a blank box. How do I authenticate then?

Did you try to reset your password with recovery mode? Here's a pretty nice how-to: askubuntu.com/a/24024/117730. – user117730 Dec 30 '12 at 21:58

Open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and run this command

passwd

Set a new password and it should be fine.

You cannot "work" in Ubuntu without a password. You can autologin if you want , but no password at all , no.
