Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

I've an idea about creating an open source project based on custom terminal emulator development for GNU/Linux. I googled around but didn't find any source code for the native GNU/Linux terminal emulator. Can anyone guide me about where to start and where can I find the source code for native terminal.

Terminal emulator for bash? –  Tachyons Dec 30 '12 at 16:46
This question would be more appropriate on Unix.SE or SO. –  gertvdijk Dec 30 '12 at 16:47
I think you need to do more research, your question does not make sense. What are you trying to do. I would start reading about TTY VTY Terminals, and console. Terminal, is basically (from a user perspective) just gibberish that doesn't mean anything that they would recognize. This site should give you a good start, but you have a lot to read first. –  coteyr Dec 30 '12 at 16:51

1 Answer 1

Source code for Gnome-Terminal, i.e the Terminal emulator that we use in Ubuntu is here

While here is the code for same Gnome-Terminal in Gnome's git repository.

There may be differences between those two.
