Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have installed and configured the snmp and snmpd packages using this guide Install and configure SNMP on Ubuntu as a reference. However, every time I restart the service, the snmpd.conf file that is placed in /etc/snmp/ gets replaced by an empty file. I am not able to edit this file after this and the only option is to delete it and create a new file.

How can I fix this?
