I'm not sure what you are asking? AFAIK Alpine is a mail program, similar to Thunderbird, but CLI based instead of GUI? But how do these relate to sendmail? –  Sparhawk Dec 30 '12 at 6:35
when i use alpine send mail to say user@pc2.example.com it goes to sendmail tru the net to user on machine pc2.example.com and is readable from alpine there, I wish to use thunderbirn instad of alpine –  nkvnkv Dec 30 '12 at 6:38
Perhaps I misunderstand, but you are using alpine as an email client, with sendmail as the SMTP server. You send mail through sendmail, then it is received by the recipient, who is also using alpine? So you are asking if there is a way to use thunderbird as the email client instead? –  Sparhawk Dec 30 '12 at 8:48
Yes, well i like GUI more than CLI mail client –  nkvnkv Dec 30 '12 at 13:29
So... That seems like what the thunderbird email client's primary use it. So can you not just look at the the thunderbird page for setup instructions? –  Sparhawk Dec 30 '12 at 20:53
