I'm trying to use the script found here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection

To have my right click working in Ubuntu 12.04.

My laptop is a brand new Asus K55 (I think it went into production in October or so) and xinput says:

Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad id=12 [slave pointer (2)]

So as per isntructions I'm doing:

 ./enable-rightbutton.sh <12|ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad>

but I get

bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'

Any help is much appreciated - right now I can only single click.

You should use the device name ("ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad") OR id ("12"); also, the argument should be pecified between "..." and not <...>. so, usage should be: ./enable-righbutton.sh "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad" –  henrique Dec 28 '13 at 16:37
