I have the problem that when I try to hibernate my laptop, it won't work at first as my laptop keeps running and being responsive, which means that I can still access the Unity desktop and perform actions there. However, the lights in front of my machine blink the same way they do when I hibernate my machine. When I then issue the hibernation command again from one of Unity's menus, my machine hibernates as if nothing was wrong. I can also restore the saved machine state without any issues and continue working normally (I write this question after such an incident). However, when my screen should become blank as my system hibernates, I see dozens of the following error messages printed to the screen:
[XXXXX.XXXXXX] Read-error on swap-device (Y:Y:YYYYYYYYY)
I can also find these entries in the syslog. X and Y indicate numbers.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 x64 on an Acer Aspire 5750G. All packages are up-to-date. I would like to fix this strange behaviour, does anyone have an idea how to do so?
