I have an iBurst USB modem which I have configured to work fine in Ubuntu on my notebook. I also have a desktop PC with Ubuntu on it, but if I unplug the USB modem from the notebook and try to configure it on the desktop PC, the PC hangs. I can therefore only access the web through the notebook and the USB modem.
I want to get my desktop PC to also connect to the web so that I can update the software, and I would also like the PC to connect to the notebook so that I can trasnfer files.
I bought a router with wifi so that I could try to do this but am running into loads of problems. The main one is that as soon as the notebook connects via cable or wifi, it kills the pppoe connection.
I am not sure exactly how to enable it so that I can keep the Internet coming through on the USB modem, while still networking with the desktop PC.
I would also like my mobile phone to connect to the router to access the web too, but right now I am stuck with just getting the network to work between the two pc's and to keep the internet connected.
How do I tell ubuntu to access anything to do with the web through the pppoe connection, and to still allow it to see the other computer or devices connected to the router? As soon as I connect to the router via wifi or cable, Internet access dies. :(
