I have an MSI CX61 laptop. The touchpad no longer works in Ubuntu 12.10. I think it has something to do with the Fn touchpad disable button and the button installed next to the touchpad to enable/disable it. If I press the Fn touchpad enable/disable button Ubuntu says the touchpad is enabled but the hardware button light shows that it is not. If I press the hardware touchpad button the light shows that it is enabled but Ubuntu says it is disabled.

Is there any way to make Ubuntu think the touchpad is one way or the other as the software is conflicting with the hardware?
