What is the best way to develop apps for Ubuntu?

i'm wonder programs and application on linux has written by with programing language ...

I think most of them have written by c ... if it's true with what ide they can write a program such as clementine and etc ?

i'm writing programs in mono and eclipse in c# and java but i really don't want to use this kind of programing language because they need some tools like .net framework or java runtime to run ...

i want to write a program in an ide that when i exported my program it doesn't need anything else to run ... i mean it standalone and run , and i want to export my program to run it on any os i want such as windows or linux .

If you use C it will be great. You have to cross-compile for windows. Generally people go for different language to simplify development. To use same code on different OS, virtual machine are used in Java, Python. – Netro Dec 25 '12 at 6:56
thanks for response but do you know any powerfull ide for it ? and can program powered by python run on operation systems ? i though it's like php and it's usefull for web ! – Mohammad Dec 25 '12 at 13:56
python runs on linux + windows. Install pydev plugin on Eclipse for python development. Youtube, google, Quora are the examples of website developed in python. Django and Pyramid are famous python web-framework. – Netro Dec 25 '12 at 14:02
just another question can i write a desktop program with it ? or it's just for web application development ? – Mohammad Dec 25 '12 at 14:13
@mohmad: most of the program in software center (including software center itself) is written in python – Tachyons Dec 25 '12 at 14:17

Variety of programming languages are used for programming in ubuntuGnu/linux, Officially ubuntu recommends python for application-development, You can port python application to windows.

For crossplatform programming java and qt c++ are the best choices

You can use eclipse or geany for python development. Yeah python is not only a scripting language, most of the ubuntu apps are written in python, Goto for more details – Tachyons Dec 25 '12 at 14:12

You can use Java language. It runs on a JVM so you don't have to change your code to make it runnable on a different OS. See! it's easy ;)
