Good point bcbc, about the normal ubuntu. So I configured the bcdedit in windows 7 to add ubuntu and it boot to Grub command line waiting for the right command

grub> and blinking dash

From what I understand, it is looking for the right kernel... but remembering about wubi superthread in ubuntuforums and grub.... not too sure how to update grub.

Windows7 is working fine.

I tried to install 12.04 but I received the message that 12.04 was installed, albeit I could not find any traces of it, while looking at the program install/uninstall in windows or looking for missing folder in the windows folders using the unhide command. ckdsk did not return any error.

As for installing ubuntu with wubi... good point... not too sure if i have the correct version, as I always installed the other ubuntu versions with wubi. How do I figure out this last one.

no raid, no multiple HD, this is a netbook, samsung np210

There is no Wubi install, but you have a normal Ubuntu dual boot. Please edit your question and clarify whether the normal Ubuntu install is working, windows is working - and whether you had another Wubi install (that is now clearly not present) or whether your normal Ubuntu is broken. If you are trying to install Wubi, what happens when you try? It's not clear at the moment. –  bcbc Dec 23 '12 at 7:56

Do you by any chance have multiple hard drives with a RAID configuration? –  Casey Hungler Dec 24 '12 at 1:40

I'm still not really clear what's going on here. –  bcbc Dec 24 '12 at 22:14
