I tried upgrading Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04.However there were many boot problems and I couldn't boot 10.04 successfully. My computer has broken down and not working. 10.04 was the only OS installed. I want to overwrite using a live cd and I want to know what are the steps involved in the procedure and the precautions to be taken with it. Also I took a device image of my system using clonezilla and would like to know if I can still restore the home partition of 9.10 on 11.10?
