I have Ubuntu 12.10, ATI drivers installed and working(not an easy task). I am trying to dual monitor out. I have a 26" LCD TV for monitor one running 1920x1080. I have mirror off, and have tried lower settings. Bottom line I don't want the 26" any lower. Problem I see is when I click 800x600 for my 21" Sony CRT the error message says "required virtual size does not fit available size: requested=(2720, 1080), minimum=(320, 200), maximum=(1920, 1920)". Why is it trying to make 2720x1080 under 800x600 settings(of course its going bug out that's above standard output).

Soooo my question, as I am fairly new to Ubuntu (but have learned A LOT from ATI drivers setup) is how can I command (in the terminal) to change resolution on just monitor #2 (sony 21") to be accurate, say, 1024x768 (a known working res on other OS's) or even a basic 800x600. Whats the command, if any, or any other ideas. Thanks to anyone who bothers with this. :)

I think you should look into this file: /etc/X11/xorg.conf Also I think this problem appeared already, you'll just need to google it. –  Melon Dec 19 '12 at 13:24
