Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I logged in normally this morning. Then they was a software update with a new linux kernel.

After install of the updates, I restarted, and now when I reach to the login screen, before I even type something, the message "authentication failure" is being displayed in red, and inside the password input field under my username, it is written "Retry" but I can't type anything and cannot login!

If I press ctrl+alt+f1 I get the terminal and I can login fine with my usual username/passwd

I tried resetting the sudo passwd but no luck. I think it's a bug with the unity-greeter.... Any help there??
