open a terminal, type lspci | grep -i wireless and edit your original post with the output please. –  Dialogos Dec 18 '12 at 16:35

Do you see a list of wifi network names (SSID's) when you click on the network manager menu on the top right? If so does your computer actually connect to the wifi network, but then can't access the internet, or does your computer never connect? If you connect, but can't access the internet open a terminal and type ifconfig and include the results in your answer or as a comment. –  Colin Matheson Dec 18 '12 at 17:56
