Is there any way to detect files that are moved by the user across the entire filesystem? I have a file called stuff.js that I want to track the location of (automatically), in case I move it to another folder. I want to do this because I want to create of a script that automatically updates symlinks when a file is moved by the user.

It looks like it's possible to use inotifywait to run a command whenever a file's content is changed: stackoverflow.com/a/420172/975097 –  Anderson Green Dec 16 '12 at 5:32

Also, the following node.js library might be useful for this purpose: stackoverflow.com/a/13705878/975097 –  Anderson Green Dec 17 '12 at 0:43
