I have an Nvidia card and I'm using NVIDIA Driver Version: 304.51 and the NVIDIA X Server Settings GUI.

Everything works fine but when I reboot and login again both my two screens are set to +0 +0 so they mirror each other...

I change the settings to screen 2 (NEC LED) to be left of screen 1 (DELL) click Apply and Save to X Configuration File... It all works but when I login again the settings are not remembered...

This is my xorg config file, can anyone help out?

Are you running the NVIDIA X Server Settings GUI as root (gksudo nvidia-settings)? – Andrew Johnson Dec 14 '12 at 2:22
I am not. It does ask for the password if I save to XORG though? – hozza Dec 17 '12 at 22:42
