Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have used both the Startup Disk Creator and UNetbootin to successfully make live USB's with persistence for use on 32-bit machines using the i386 iso. Following the same procedures, I can make bootable live USB's for 64-bit machines using the AMD64 iso. The problem is that these USB's do not have persistence. I have tested this with ubuntu-12.04.1 abd ubuntu-12.10 iso's.

Am I missing something? Is there a work-around or an alternative approach?
