Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Previously I assumed this simply wasn't an included functionality but on watching an Ubuntu 12.10 review from October it's clear that you should see image thumbnails in dash. However, my images are not showing as thumbnails and all I get is the file type icon.

How can I change the settings to show image thumbnails in dash? There is nothing obvious in dconf-editor but then shouldn't it be the default functionality anyway?
