This is the situation
I work with a lot of csv/excel files as I am part of a team that is building an app to deal with lot of data
For testing I have this folder called
TESTFILES. It has a lot of subfolders. There must be around 25000 files. Filenames might repeat but they are all unique.
Our interface for the app is drag and drop. Everytime I test something on the app, I like to pick a random file and drag it and drop it to see if it works with all files.
I would like to have a music library like interface where I have this big list of files without anything to do with type of file or the subfolder it is in.
Let me know if there is already something like this. I should be able to drag and drop as well.
What I am currently doing is that I search for .csv / .xls/ .xlsx in nautilus and pick a random file from the list. But this is time consuming.
Only other sensible solution I can think of is writing a shell script that will copy all files from
TESTFILES_2 and renames them if necessary removing the need to have subfolders. It can not be hard but I do not have the time.
PS: I have no idea where this question should belong. Or which category
