While installing Ubuntu I connected it to my wi-fi network. But as installation finished I couldn't connect to that same network again because Ubuntu doesn't see it. It does still see other networks but not mine. Changing network name did not help nor did connecting to hidden wireless network. Can anyone help me with this problem? I'm sure I'm not alone having this issue but I couldn't find the answer. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I believe re-installation without connecting to wireless would help, but I want to solve it another way.

You could try:

  1. clicking on the network manager icon
  2. Edit connections…
  3. Find the wireless connection and delete it.
  4. Try connecting again.

Thanks. I tried it. But it doesn't work. Ubuntu just doesn't see the network. And what is interesting it doesn't see that same network that it's been connected to during the installation process. Strange. – Tim Nov 30 '12 at 11:02

I have had the same problem and have had varied results by putting the system to sleep and waking it back up. This has not worked consistently but the wireless interface always receives all nearby wireless SSID's and does attempt to reconnect automatically with my SSID. I have also had success deleting the connection and reconnecting to the available wireless SSID but this doesn't work very often either.

exactly the same problem here. Just installed ubuntu 12.10 with the liveCD. Wireless was working fine on the liveCD and now that the software is installed on the Hard Drive wifi stopped working. No network connection is detected at all. Suspending seems to help since at least the nearby networks start to be detected BUT the authentication of the wifi is impossible. Despite countless attempts the wifi from the installed computer does not work but on the liveCD it works fine.

tried deleting all connections, what not and still no luck.
