I have a Dell Latitude D830 with just Ubuntu 12.04. Recently after I installed it, the shutdown worked fine. Recently, it has decided to stay on all night, and still be on when I wake up. Help please!

How are you shutting down? Are you using sudo shutdown now without the -h option? That will cause that to happen. How are you shutting down, and what screen is it displaying when it is awake? Is there text on it? Is it just white? – Sam Mercier Nov 30 '12 at 2:25
im not using terminal, I just shut it down with the shut down option in the menu. Sometimes, it does display text when I boot it up. – iKiel2012 Nov 30 '12 at 21:00
