I'm using ubuntu 12.10 that I just installed on a new hp m4-1015 laptop. Everything seems to be working just fine except for that I cannot seem to adjust the screen brightness to extend battery life.
If I go to to settings->brightness & lock, then try to adjust it manually. Nothing happens. The fn+f2/f3 keys don't seem to work either. I do get a popup that shows the screen brightness being adjusted (the little progress bar you normally see). But it doesn't actually do anything. I don't really care if the hot keys adjust the brightness or not, however nice that may be. But it would be nice to be able to adjust the screen brightness some way.
Thank you in advance.
