I have (Oracle) Virtualbox 4.2.4 on Ubuntu 12.10. I installed Windows Vista on Virtual Box, which only lasted a week (I didn't install anything on it). I tried Win XP and it works for about a week and then Virtual Box, breaks XP (without even connecting to the internet). The strange thing is that it has happened to other people I know. One happened on MACOSX.

When you say it "breaks", what happens? The virtual machine won't boot? Windows gives some kind of error on startup?

Have you tried exporting the virtual machine as an appliance while it still works? That way you can at least restore it when it breaks, which would partly alleviate the problem and would make it easier to debug without you having to re-install Windows all the time.
