i just installed Linuxmint lxde 32bit on my laptop and wanted to try the similar trick of sharing wifi to another computer via ethernet cable.

the method tried was this which worked like a charm in Ubuntu 12.04:

click on the network icon on the top right of the screen and click on edit connections

go into the wired tab and click on add

Name it whatever you want, i normally name it Share

Go into the ipv4 settings tab and select shared to other computers in the "method" drop-down list.

Save the connection.

Now, making sure that you are connected through wireless network, connect both computers with the ethernet cable, then click on the network icon on the top right of the screen and select the Shared connection we just created (or whatever you named the connection). So at this moment you should be connected to both, your wireless connection through the wireless interface, and to the "Shared" connection we just created on the wired interface.

Now having tried this method is somehow isnt working in Linuxmint 12 LXDE 32bit. On screen it shows "Wired Network Connection Established" and then "Wired Network Disconnected" like it goes on and on and never stops

please help what am i doing wrong? :S

Mint is a bit different from Ubuntu, from what you wrote it seems that Mint is not running the DHCP server in this case. Perhaps there's another option you have to check so it will. – David Kohen Nov 23 '12 at 7:20
