Is it possible to add custom metadata columns to files/folders in Ubuntu?
Is there any extension in Nautilus which can do this?

What do you mean by "custom meta data" exactly? Are you still looking for an answer to this? –  Seth Apr 10 '13 at 3:15

@Seth I think this is meant to be read (custom (metadata columns)), not ((custom metadata) columns). Metadata, as the term is typically used, are data about files that are specific to their filetypes. For example, an mp3 file has a bitrate. Some file browsers on some operating systems show some metadata for some file types automatically. This is asking if it's possible to add extra columns in the detailed view, customized to show metadata types chosen by the user. Please note that the OP was "last seen" on AU earlier today; this question is not abandoned, going by the cleanup guidelines. –  Eliah Kagan Apr 10 '13 at 3:42

@EliahKagan Ah, thanks for the clarification. You're right I misread it, hence the confusion. –  Seth Apr 10 '13 at 3:43
