Since I cannot get my wireless card Broadcom BCM4313 working properly at home, I thought I could buy a usb wifi external adapter (I found this Dlink DWA-125). Would this device bypass bcm4313 and its related driver? Could I get a decent speed connection this way?

I'd think that troubleshooting your Broadcom would be more likely to succeed. If it just can't be made to work (which I doubt) it can be blacklisted. Whether the DWA-125 would work better depends on your router, encryption, et al and many details. I believe the driver for the DWA-125 is rt2800usb included in the 12.04 kernel by default. – chili555 Nov 20 '12 at 14:49

thank you for fast reply! I spent planty of time trying to make it work: I tried installing/removing proprietary drivers, disabling ipv6, disabling wireless card power management through editing /etc/rc.local, but I did not succeed... The fact is that I have this issue connecting to a Netgear dng1000, which is instlled at home, and to my town's public library. But I tried also to connect to friend's routers (not-Netgear) and University network and it works perfectly – alaska-sca Nov 20 '12 at 15:35
