I'm a pretty experienced Ubuntu user but since reformatting (not my home partition) and installing 12.10 from fresh I cannot get my graphics drivers to work remotely correctly. The best I've managed to get is both monitors on mirror mode on 1024x768. Installing nvidia-current results in X Server failing completely, not even dropping down to Ctrl+Alt+F1 works. With nvidia-drivers-updates I have the same again, dual 1024x768 mirrored.

Any ideas?

nvidia-settings shows both monitors overlayed upon each other, I can separate them but they're still mirrored even when set not to.

Both monitors are detected in the GPU-0 section of nvidia-settings, and show correct native resolution of 1920x1080, but neither can be set to that resolution. Oddies include it thinking I have an X Screen 0, A Benq monitor and an LG (I have a benq and a LG). I have tried eradicating my xorg.conf file and rebooting to no joy.

Please could you guys give me some ideas?

Thanks
