In order to get LaTeX to work, I have set the environment variable TEXINPUTS, which includes a path to certain inputted files. It works fine if I'm calling latex (or rubber, or pdflatex) from the shell, but if I try to use it from within the gedit plugin, it doesn't recognise that variable. How can I set an environment variable such that it is used by applications and not just the shell?
