Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Well, after many distro's trying, decided to 'make my own' low spec distro. Downloaded ubuntu mini. As far as i understand it only has command line support only, even after installation ? It doesn't install any programs without my knowing ?

Next question would be what to download in order get graphical interface, sound, video working. In my opinion these packages are required:

openbox
xorg
alsa, pulseaudio
drivers for graphic card

The big question would be what the packages i must install in order archieve fully functional PC with graphical interface ?

This is really too vague to be answerable. We have several similar more specific questions - for example: askubuntu.com/questions/42964/… and askubuntu.com/questions/185293/… – fossfreedom Nov 17 '12 at 7:13
