I've been waiting to see if a linux-image-generic-lts-backport-precise package shows up for Lucid. I think it makes a lot of sense to backport the Precise kernel to Lucid since the Oneiric kernel (the most recent backport available to Lucid) will fall out of support before Lucid does.

Since it has already been 6 months since Precise was released, I'm starting to wonder if this isn't going to happen. I think it would be a shame if it doesn't since it would extend the useful life of Lucid for quite a while longer. It also gives Lucid a backported kernel that will outlast Lucid itself.

Anyone know if a Precise backport is planned? If not, why not? Can I lobby someone to change their mind? :) I'm happy to contribute to testing.
