Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've just registered to this forum and I would like to know how to fix this problem. It really drives me crazy, I've already tried to solve this for months but nothing.

I have Ubuntu 12.10 and the combination FN+F7 (backlight on/off) and FN+F9 (check system properties) don't work.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

It would be useful to know what type of computer you are running into this problem on. Also did this key-combo work on older versions of ubuntu? –  Alex L. Nov 15 '12 at 15:25

Ehi Alex, first of all thank you for the response! I'm using a netbook, in particular ASUS 1015px. When I had Ubuntu 8.04 (last year when I bought my netbook it had this default version) fn+f7 (as well as fn+f9) did work!. Actually all of FN combos did workes! If you need more info for doing something let's ask! I'll check this post frequently: I would do anything for solve this problem! Being full of hope, thank you in advance! –  Dimix Nov 15 '12 at 19:54
