Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Just installed Ubuntu on my laptop I'm a brand new user that doesn't really know the first thing about Ubuntu/linux so bear with me.

I use a Static IP and I've been trying to input it into the Network Manager but the save button is greyed out. After googling came across this post telling me to edit the NetworkManager policy. However, when I open it with text editor and try to save it I can't, there are restrictions on me saving there or something along those lines. I'm sure its a relatively simple solution but as I'm new to all of this I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the information. Thanks in advance
