Speakers don't work in 12.10 but they work fine on windows7

Question

I have recently upgraded my Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 version and find issues with my speakers as well as microphone.

When I boot the system they don't work, but(don't know why) when I restart once or twice they work fine. There is no problem with my laptop(dell xps) as they work well on windows7.

I have my sound settings as follows

Hardware --- Built-in Audio 1 Outpu/1 Input Analog Stereo Duplex
Input(Internal Microphone) & Output(Speakers) -----Built-in audio Analog Stereo

Any suggestions to fix the problem??
