I installed Ubuntu for the first time on my hp g7v laptop. I cannot connect to the internet with a wired or wireless connection. I am only minutes old in the Ubuntu world so I require detailed information. I know I need to install b43 but I cannot connect to the internet.

Please give us your ifconfig output. Open terminal with Ctrl+Alt+T and type ifconfig there. –  Angstrem Nov 10 '12 at 0:04
