I use VirtualBox for running Windows XP as a guest OS in my Ubuntu 12.04 host machine.

When running VirtualBox, it does not support USB, but when I launch VirtualBox as root using gksu virtualbox, it does support USB. But in this session (root mode), I can't access my file system.

Is there a way to prevent this problem? Anybody please help me.

Running VirtualBox as root is not such a good idea. For USB-access did you follow this: askubuntu.com/questions/25596/set-up-usb-for-virtualbox - become a vboxuser? – Takkat Nov 8 '12 at 7:17
