I would like to build GCC-4.1.2 in Ubuntu 11.10 32bit (currently works well with GCC-4.6).

The "make" stage shows error relating to header files:

   ...
   /usr/include/features.h:323:26: error: bits/predefs.h: No such file or directory
   ...

Here is my system state:

  1. I installed packages: gmp, mpfr, mpc, libc6-dev

  2. I've set include path to look for headers:

    export C_INCLUDE_PATH=/usr/include/i386-linux-gnu &&
    export CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH=$C_INCLUDE_PATH &&
    export OBJC_INCLUDE_PATH=$C_INCLUDE_PATH
    export LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu

  3. I made simple "Hello World" program which includes predefs.h: "#include bits/predefs.h>". It could be compiled with no error.

  4. locate predefs.h show it locates in: /usr/include/i386-linux-gnu/bits

Does anyone please tell me a hint for this issue? Why process of compiling GCC cannot locate headers under path: /usr/include/i386-linux-gnu

Thank you,

Tri

Thanks swaoyonubuntu! I fixed problem by reinstall libc6-dev, install gcc-multilib, and make symbolic link from /usr/include/i386-linux-gnu/* to /usr/include. –  tri Nov 8 '12 at 3:34
